President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, positioning the private sector as the engine of Ghana’s economic transformation.

Speaking during a courtesy call by the Ghana CEO Network at the Presidency, Mahama pointed to what he described as significant gains in the country’s economic recovery.

According to the President, Ghana’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has climbed to an estimated $114 billion, elevating the country to the position of the 8th largest economy on the African continent.

Mahama attributed the progress to what he termed strict fiscal discipline, reduced government waste, and a resurgence in investor confidence, assuring business leaders of sustained collaboration between government and industry.

“The private sector remains central to our transformation agenda. We will continue to create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive,” the President stated.

He underscored the importance of flagship policies such as the 24-Hour Economy initiative and the Accelerated Export Agenda, urging industry players to shift focus from raw material exports to value addition and diversification.

Mahama further disclosed that savings from ongoing fiscal reforms are being redirected into key national programmes, including the Big Push infrastructure drive, the Adwumawura entrepreneurship initiative, and the Free Primary Healthcare Programme, all aimed at boosting productivity and promoting inclusive development.

The delegation, led by Ernest De-Graft Egyir, commended the government’s economic management and extended an invitation to the President to serve as Guest of Honour at the upcoming Ghana CEO Summit scheduled for 28 May 2026.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts by the Mahama administration to deepen public-private sector collaboration as Ghana seeks to consolidate its economic recovery and drive long-term growth.
