The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Bampoe Addo family on the loss of Isaac Bampoe Addo, former Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), and his twin brother, Mr Sidney Nii Oko Akuetteh Bampoe Addo.

His twin, Sidney, a deputy director at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, died on Monday, September 14, also aged 59.

The funeral ceremony took place at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra on Saturday, November 7.

A post on Parliament's Facebook page said "The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Alban S.K. Bagbin, and the parliamentary community mourn with the family and the nation. May the departed rest in perfect peace."

President John Dramani Mahama's tribute in the brochure was headed "Tribute by the President and People of Ghana".

"They came into the world together and left it within weeks of each other. For their family the loss is doubled. For the nation, it is the loss of two men who gave their working lives to public service," he wrote.

Mahama wrote that he fought for better conditions, negotiated salaries and allowances, worked to secure pensions, and built welfare and housing schemes for public servants. In May, CLOGSAG said government still owed 11 months of second-tier pension contributions.

Sidney's data on crop production, prices and the national food supply informed policy, he wrote. "Every government needs both: a workforce that is respected, and decisions grounded in evidence."
