The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 22-year-old man for allegedly spreading fear and panic after posting a viral video in which he posed as a bandit and issued threats online.

The suspect, identified as Evans Puplampu, was picked up on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at Ashaiman Community 22 following what police described as sustained intelligence gathering and surveillance.

The arrest stems from a widely circulated TikTok video showing the suspect with his face covered, accompanied by the caption, “We are starting from Ghana churches.”

The post quickly triggered alarm among the public, with many expressing concern over potential security threats.

According to police, the suspect admitted during interrogation that he was the individual in the video but claimed his actions were not intended to cause harm. He told investigators he had replicated a trending social media pose “for fun,” without anticipating the panic it would generate.

Officers retrieved a Samsung Galaxy A15 mobile phone believed to have been used in recording and sharing the video. The device has since been secured as evidence to support ongoing investigations.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to be put before court as police continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the incident.
