The Government has released first quarter funds to the Ghana Scholarships Authority to begin settling outstanding arrears owed to Ghanaian students studying abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom and other countries.

In a statement issued by the Authority, it confirmed that the disbursement is aimed at addressing long-standing delays in the payment of stipends and tuition fees, which have in recent months triggered anxiety among beneficiaries.

The Authority acknowledged the challenges faced by students due to the delays and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused, assuring that the intervention marks the beginning of a broader effort to clear all outstanding obligations.

“This intervention forms part of ongoing efforts by Government to progressively address delays in the payment of stipends and tuition fees,” the statement said, underscoring government’s commitment to the welfare of Ghanaian students abroad.

According to the Authority, it is currently working with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the newly released funds are processed promptly, with the expectation that beneficiaries will begin receiving payments in due course.

While no specific timelines were provided, the Authority sought to calm rising concerns among students, many of whom have reportedly struggled to meet living expenses and academic obligations due to the arrears.

Beneficiaries have been urged to remain calm and continue with their studies as efforts are intensified to resolve the situation.

The statement further expressed appreciation to affected students for their patience and cooperation, assuring them of the Authority’s continued support as it works to prevent future delays.
