Faruk Mohammed’s 37th-minute strike against his former club, Nations FC, secured a crucial victory for Vision FC at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Mohammed capitalised on a costly mistake by Nations FC goalkeeper Hadinu Bariu to slot home from close range in an otherwise cagey first half.

The hosts came close to taking the lead early in the game but failed to make their chances count, while Vision FC continued to threaten on the counterattack.

Goalkeeper Godwin Ametefe proved to be the hero for the visitors after the break, producing a series of important saves to earn the MVP award at full time.

Ametefe denied Annor late in the second half before dramatically saving Bariu’s penalty in stoppage time after Nations FC were awarded a spot-kick.

Bariu’s missed opportunity to redeem himself and rescue a point for his side leaves Nations FC staring at the possibility of relegation heading into the final round of fixtures.

The Abrankese-based club remain 16th in the league standings with 41 points and now face a must-win clash away to Karela United in Tamale on the final day of the season.

Vision FC, meanwhile, have significantly boosted their survival hopes after climbing to 12th place with 44 points. Nana Kweku Agyemang’s side will return to Tema to host Aduana FC in their final match of the campaign.
