Inaki Williams scores in Athletic Bilbao final home game ahead of expected World Cup call-up

Inaki Williams was on target for Athletic Bilbao in their final home game of the season as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo at San Mames on Sunday.

The visitors made a blistering start to the encounter and opened the scoring after just four minutes through Swedish attacker Williot Swedberg.

The youngster finished off a well-worked move after being set up by former Barcelona midfielder Ilaix Moriba.

Athletic responded positively after going behind and pushed forward in search of an equaliser before the halftime break, but Celta Vigo held onto their slender advantage heading into the interval.

Just moments after the restart, Williams brought the hosts level with a composed finish.

The Ghana international latched onto a precise delivery from experienced left-back Yuri Berchiche before calmly converting to delight the home supporters at San Mames.

The goal adds to another impressive campaign for the 31-year-old forward, who has now registered four goals and four assists across all competitions this season for Athletic.

Williams continues to play a vital role for the Basque outfit with his pace, experience and leadership qualities proving crucial throughout the campaign.

The forward is widely expected to be named in Ghana national football team squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup as the Black Stars prepare for the global tournament.
