Ghana and the World Bank are stepping up efforts to improve coordination and efficiency in the delivery of social protection services under the Ghana Productive Safety Net Project 2 (GPSNP 2), as both sides review implementation gaps affecting support to vulnerable households.

The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has reiterated government’s commitment to strengthening delivery systems to ensure more effective and timely support for beneficiaries across the country.

She made the remarks during a courtesy call by a World Bank delegation as part of the GPSNP 2 Implementation Support Mission currently underway in Accra from May 18 to 27, 2026.

The mission, led by Cornelia M. Tesliuc, is engaging the Ministry and implementing partners to review progress under the programme, assess implementation challenges and identify measures to improve delivery outcomes.

The discussions focused on coordination gaps among implementing institutions and their impact on targeting, efficiency and overall effectiveness of social protection interventions.

The Minister stressed the need to strengthen systems so that support reaches vulnerable households in a more timely and reliable manner.

The World Bank delegation also reviewed key performance indicators under GPSNP 2, with emphasis on improving programme efficiency and institutional coordination.

Both sides examined strategies to streamline implementation processes and strengthen accountability mechanisms across agencies involved in the project.

The engagement further assessed progress on key milestones and identified areas requiring improved coordination to enhance delivery on the ground.

GPSNP 2 remains a key component of Ghana’s social protection framework aimed at reducing vulnerability and improving livelihoods among disadvantaged households nationwide.
